Prepping for this tour during an almost 2 year lockdown had it’s up and downs, but we’re finally on the road and performing to sell out crowds!
I’m honoured to headline The Australian Burlesque Festival this year. It takes not only the passion for the art form to new heights, but it takes professionalism, charisma and heart to bring it all together. I’m stoked to be performing 3 of my favourite acts around Australia!
My “Lola” Acts (Part A and B) are so dear to my heart. Embodying the iconic Gwen Verdon and paying respect to her and Bob Fosse with a perfect tribute to the iconic “Whatever Lola Wants” striptease number from Damn Yankees is a dream come true! Chuck in an unbelievably beautiful costume by Shimmery Couture, and this act transports you back to the golden age of Broadway Musicals. Plus, there’s a sneaky Part B - a classic fan dance inspired by the stunning Sherry Britton. I just had to chuck on a crown and play Queen while on tour - it’s only fitting, right?
Although my “Classic with a Twist” act has to be my new favourite. This act is so dear to my heart as it’s taken almost 5 years to get up and running. During the repeated rescheduling of this festival, I fell in and out of love with this act as I lost my mojo. I had the fabric custom printed 5 years ago knowing I’d be creating a signature act in my very own signature tartan (designed by me!), but fitting this bold print to a classic act was sure to be a challenge. Then chuck in a pair of stunning custom Donna Touch Fans, and I knew I had to continue to rework this act to make it all me! But I finally made it! And it’s iconic if I must say so myself.
I’m honoured to be touring alongside the gorgeous Scarlett Tinkabelle who is also headlining this year. Her alternative take on classic burlesque is utterly inspiring, and I’m so excited to be spending some quality time with her!
I’m missing my Maison Burlesque fam, and of course my dog, but this is an experience of a lifetime!

Workshop 1: “Classic with Character “
“Classic burlesque” has had a bad rep of being labelled boring, but it’s far from it! Maple Rose, voted most Classic at the Busties in 2018, will guide you into exploring characterisation within the traditional burlesque style to create your own unique striptease character. We will play around with clowning, narrative, dramaturgy, musicality and costuming within the realm of traditional burlesque dance styles after we will dive into the history books to find examples of iconic burlesque stars and explore how their onstage personas skyrocketed their careers.
Workshop 2: “Floorwork Like a Lady”
Did you ever see Tempest Storm plonk her bum on the floor? Absolutely not! In this 1.5h dance intensive workshop, we’re going to learn how to get down and dirty the lady-like way. Explore the floor work stylings of the queens from the glory days! With slides, rolls, kicks and bends we’ll get that desired drop without the need to be uber flexible or overtly erotic. Suitable to ANYONE keen to learn floor tricks from the past. Options for any level experience will be given. Just bring a pair of low dance heels (socks are also fine), wear long leggings for slippage, and a pair of small knee pads will help keep your knees bruise free.
Workshop 3: “Ruffle Those Feathers”
As Sally Rand famously said, “The fan idea is as old as Cleopatra.” Making it your own and unique can be a challenge, but let Maple Rose teach you a few tricks to add to your repertoire! Here’s your chance to learn from the tornado herself. From her large waterfall tribute fans down to her pocket sized iconic pink and blue plumes with tiny dinosaur arms, Maple has been gracing the stages across the world showcasing her unique lyrical style of fan dancing. In this 1.5 hour workshop we’ll be strengthening those wrists, conditioning those shoulders, refining those grip changes, and learning fan-cy tricks to improve your technique and hone in on your own personal style.
We will also chat about fan design and tweaks to make your set of fans work for you.

Finesse your fan dance skills, touch up on that footwork, or even learn a floor work trick – Maple will give you tips on how to safely train for your act and build on dance techniques to put that punch in your bumps!

Miss Maple Rose has been described as the unwanted lovechild of Tempest Storm and Lucille Ball.
Combining her professional expertise in costume and set design with her foundation in classical dance, Maple guides many a budding performance artist in the art of tease! She’s here to prove that “classic burlesque” doesn’t have to be boring. Either with feather fans or tapping toes, Maple will take you on a deep dive into burlesque history.
Winner of the the 1st Runner Up crown at Miss Burlesque Australia 2018, voted number 21 in the 21st Century Burlesque Magazine’s Top 50 Most Influential Artists of 2021, and voted Best Solo Artist and Most Classic at the Australian Burlesque Industry Awards, The Busties, in 2018 – Maple has shown Australia she’s one tornado with her feather fans and couture costumes!
