My wife and I got back from London yesterday and we had a the time of our lives! This was the first time both Miss Delta Daggers and myself were invited to participate in an international festival, and I have a wee inkling that we killed it. Chaz Royal's London Burlesque Festival is one of the longest running burlesque festivals in the world with 2016 being it's tenth annual celebration of all things risque. Full of amazing showgirls from every inch of the globe, and it was so inspiring to be a part of such a huge production.
As classic performers, both Delta and myself were invited to participate in the "Gin and Jazz" night, devoted strictly to the classic art of vintage tease. Astonishingly, the date landed on my 28th birthday, so without my knowledge my act "encored" with the birthday song sung by our gorgeous MC with back-up vocals from audience. I think I cried in my paisties after realizing Delta was behind it all. And to top it all off, it was such an amazing surprise to see Sydney burlesque scene groupee, Peter Quinn, in the audience, which made me feel little bit homesick.
Below you can check out the official video of my performance, and be sure to keep watching to see my birthday surprise (and a bit more nudity!)
Chaz and Betty have organised an incredibly professional production, and really made everyone feel welcome. Betty made the rounds backstage to introduce herself to all the performers and honestly knew exactly who we were from our applications. What a talent! Everything was 'tip top' to the finest detail. Our lighting designer was on point, sound was perfect, and we even had a mini one-on-one photo shoot with Joanna Kor backstage before the show! Here's the gorgeous result which doesn't show the stress, mess and 'oh-so classy' change rooms backstage. I think she's a magician to get it all out of shot!
I can't wait to do it again. Maybe not next year, but definitely in the years to come.
