Dive into burlesque history with Maple Rose in this all levels burlesque course focusing on the origins of the art of tease! We will explore the transition of burlesque from parody on the vaudeville circuit to striptease in the cabaret clubs in this multi-discipline dance based course. Each term we will be inspired by the 'greats' who changed the art of burlesque from the 1920s - 1960s, including composers, burlesque stars and comedians!
In this 8 week course you will learn:
- The core burlesque dance styles of the era
- Sassy and classic striptease
- Characterisation and comedic timing to create that loveable burlesque character
- Floor work that will get you down and dirty in a fun, flirty way

Vintage Varietease is open to women, and it is recommended that students have some dance or burlesque experience. You will learn a routine and have the option to perform at our end of term Cherry Poppers Showcase. Please note that this class does involve striptease elements and does include a pastie reveal.
